This past weekend I reconnected with some of my college friends. A year ago I reconnected with my high school class of 1978! Both events were so enjoyable as we all caught up with one another.

As I reflected on these events I am reminded of how important it is in life to take the time to reconnect with those from our past. I believe no one crosses our paths without a reason. Sometimes those reasons are easy to see while others may be a bit more difficult to understand. Each person with whom we have met in life truly does play a role in our journey.

Often, many will choose to fore go getting together with those from our past for many reasons. Sometimes memories can be painful and embarrassing. We all do goofy things in our youth as each of us were learning about who we were.

Today, as adults in our 60’s, hopefully any painful memories can be erased and replaced by reconnecting with the people we are today. Each of us has accomplished different things, endured hardships, and have lived varied and interesting lives. Being able to really focus on who we are right now can be so good for the soul.

My years in high school and college are full of wonderful memories. Each very different experiences and each extremely important in shaping me into the person I am today. I am thankful for each person who has crossed my path in some unique way.

Thank you to those of you who were able to come to the University of North Texas Homecoming events. It was great seeing you and reconnecting with you. For those of you unable to attend, we hope to see you next year.

To those with whom I have reconnected, thank you for the role you have played in my life. Whether it was a casual friendship or a closer relationship, your life intersected with mine for a reason. I am thankful for each of you.

Until we meet again next year! Live well, live your moments, and LIV2DAY!
